Did you get a new DSLR as a gift and want to learn how to use it? Or maybe you have had one but haven’t taken the time and energy to take it out of Auto-mode? Maybe you have a basic understanding of manual mode, but need some help fine tuning? Would you like someone to help you figure out what all the modes mean, which settings to use so you can have complete creative freedom and control?

I can help you do that!

The time we spend together is up to you. We can go over the most basic elements of photography if that’s where you’re at, or we can work on my advanced elements, or maybe it’s Photoshop and/ or Lightroom you need help with. The choice is yours! Let’s chat and figure out what your sessions should look like.

I’ve been a photographer for almost 30 years and have used film and digital cameras. Depending on which camera you have, I may already know everything I need to help you. For cameras I don’t know, I’ll do some homework before our first meeting on where to find what we’ll need so we’re not wasting your time. I’ll come to your first class knowing what I need to know to help you.

I am a learn as we go kind of person. We’ll have a brief introduction where I’ll go over the names and functions of things like ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, etc. We’ll also cover things like framing, perspective, and abstraction. I’ll send you things to read before our first class so we can spend more time putting things like the ISO and aperture, framing, etc. into action so you can see in real time what each thing does. We’ll do this in my studio on days that are just too wet to shoot outdoors and we’ll go outside on days that allow it. We’ll do landscape, abstract, portrait, and still life photography so we can put your camera to use.

We’ll get you comfortable in manual mode in no time so you’ll know what settings to use for the look you want every time! You get to be in control of your camera and of your art!

Part of learning manual mode is learning about some of the other modes on your camera as well. Depending on how many hours of instruction you want will depend on how deep into the camera we can go. I recommend the 5-hour or longer options, but we’ll get the most out of the 2-3 hour options as we can. From 2 to 10 hours, you’ll leave our time together more confident in your skills.

For the 2 and 3-hour options, most of your info will be sent to you to study before our session together so we can spend more time in hands-on mode. My suggestions is a minimum of 5-hours but I know things are tight, so we’ll do what we can with the time we have. The 2-hour option can’t be split up, but the other options can and some will be split up. If you need to do all hours in the same day, we’ll chat about options.

Right now everything is on sale for 50% off! My normal hourly rate is $150/hr with a 3 hour minimum, but I have a 2-hour minimum available at the moment. Between Covid, and it being the holidays, and people needing help to diversify their income, I decided to do this sale on my photography instruction.

Only the first 10 people will get these prices. After I have 10 people who have purchased any of these options, the next 10 will go to $100/hr. After those 10 people, they’ll go to normal prices.

COVID: We’ll be in masks indoors and out for the entire time we’re together. We’ll regularly disinfect cameras, doors, tables, and anything else we use.
